Work, Work. (cont.)

I was able to get up to my mom's school again today,
and had a couple of good chunks of time to work on the mural again-
this is what it looks like now:

Now, what does my little J man do while I, his mama, paint? (since grandma- my mom- had surgery last week and can't watch him while I work)
Remember, this is a kindergarten classroom.
They have this super cool floor mat that he fell in love with- it kept him well occupied for a long, long time.

After he tired of this, the pastor's daughter took Josiah for a walk over to her house to hang out with her other 7 (yes, seven) siblings. He had a blast!
When she brought him back, he was more than ready to eat and nap- and slept from 1:45 until 4.

Plenty of painting time for mama :)

Work, Work.

I was officially hired by Trinity Lutheran to do a mural in the Kindergarten classroom (my mom might have had some say in this....seeing as she is the Kindergarten teacher and has control of what is put in her classroom... :)

I will try to have this finished by the start of the schoolyear.
er....
I will have this finished by the start of the schoolyear.

Wish me luck!

The Mommy Artist in Me

This week's specs:

Challenge #24

Pick a day this week and tell us about it using your camera.

Rules:
1.) Submit as many or as few photos as you'd like.
2.) B/W or Colour
3.) please no tweaking
4.) Photos due Sat. July 18, 2009

This challenge is about telling a story, finding a way to narrate through pictures. You don't have to narrate your whole day, you can pick just a portion of it if you'd like. Have fun!

I decided to narrate my life as an artist and as a mother. You may notice some similarities!!
I also chose to do the whole challenge in B/W- partly because 1) the light that I had today was terrible (we're a bit rainy here), 2) I felt it would tie the photos together, and 3) I honestly see many photographic situations in black and white, and am just more comfortable with it!
To see other people's entries (we have a bunch of new people this week- whoo-hoo!), just

Proclamation and Praise- final product!!

almost done......

finished painting! (the quality is not that great cuz it was taken with my phone:)

"Proclamation and Praise" kickoff service

Pastor Strobel could not have been more grateful and enthusiastic about this painting... he asked me to write up an artist's explanation, since there is a TON of symbolism within the painting- which I will post eventually, of course!
Have a great night, everyone!

Proclamation and Praise

Here's what I've been busy with the past week... needs to be finished by Friday or Saturday (preferably Friday)
WLC commissioned me to make an altarpiece for a new service that they are adding on Sunday nights called Proclamation and praise- the dimension of the painting is 12" x 9"
J man has been ever patient with me- playing so well by himself, and making awesome cooing noises that echo wonderfully in the basement at TPOG (where I am working on the painting, since I don't have 9 ft ceilings at home :/)

custom aluminum-reinforced stretcher bars assembled
March 19th

All stretched with gesso (primer)
march 2oth

1st layer of paint, heavy-duty hinges attached to form triptych
march 22

some people added- still figuring out composition
March 23

Threw out Neck- unable to work March 24

Went to Chiropractor Morning of the 25th

More trumpeters added- figuring out where to place words "proclamation and praise"
March 25th

Looking forward to adding the picture of the finished piece :)
Have a great night-
from a very- VERY tired mommy artist.
