Baby photography: Zoe!

Yesterday I met up with Phil and Kim, and their gem of a baby girl, Zoe!
And you know the first thing I noticed about Zoe? Take one guess:

This little girl gives J man a run for his money on the "stunning eyes" award! What a cutie!
Oh, and her parents are pretty cool, too :)

And this shot was one of my faves of the day: can't resist a baby in a tutu!

(and I am a fan of cloth-diaper butt, too :)

Phil asked me to get a special shot, too. You see, Zoe was born REALLY early, and was so small that her daddy's wedding band fit over her fist and onto her wrist. So he asked that I get a picture of his band over her thumb, just to measure the change from her birthday. I'd say that's pretty incredible!

Thanks SO much to Kim, Phil, and Baby Zoe! You've just captured my heart!

Much love,

Em

Hush, Little Baby

I realized today that I never took photos of my little J man in his room- and he presented the perfect opportunity by taking a nap in his crib. So, What did I do? I took pictures.
Isn't he just so cute?!? I can't get enough...... ;)

Just wanted to give a shout out to my older sister who provided the beautiful photos of animals that she and her hubby took at various zoos around the country. Thanks a ton- they look beautiful in there!

and an added bonus- I know you've been waiting for more amazing video of this little cutie: the reason he's SO tuckered out in the previous pictures~

St. Patty's day Playdate

Yesterday Katie invited us over for a traditional dinner of corned beef and cabbage- so we packed our stuff into our Jeep (J man and DDR mat :), and made our way over to their house.
Josiah had a good time with Ruthie, who looked super cute in her Lucky Charms t shirt, and was even so nice to hold his hand- and only tried to eat it a couple times. :)
The food was fantastic, the friendship awesome, and the Dance Dance Revolution.....tiring and sweaty.

Here's one of my favorite shots of the night:

~Bonding time with the J man~

He is 8 weeks old today- I can't believe how fast the time is flying by (I know this won't be the first time I say that!)
He is cooing and smiling regularly now- mostly at the bars on his changing table, and occasionally at me and Jonathan. We LOVE this little boy- he is really becoming quite the character!

PS. I thought I would share some parenting humor or interesting quip each week that I hear or experience:

Jonathan(hubby): "Baby poop now isn't so bad. When he first pooed, though... When you try to wipe it off, the poop just laughs at you."
(explaining meconium to some friends of ours w/o children)

He's HOW BIG??

Yesterday Josiah got weighed and measured again:
11 lbs 13 oz already- my little boy is growing up!
He's 6 weeks old today, and the time has just flown right by. Next week I go back to teaching art (we'll be doing mosaics), so Jon's mom is coming down to watch the J man.
I think she's pretty excited about having a grandchild so close (her other 3 grandchildren-4 counting the one due in March- live in OH- kind of a long drive:(
Fortunately, I only teach part time, so I won't be away from him for too long. I love hanging out with the handsome little man :)

Happy One Month Old!

My beautiful, Happy little boy turned ONE MONTH OLD yesterday! I can't believe how fast time is flying by- but at the same time, it's like he's always been with us :)
The top picture is how he reacts when Daddy started talking to him- the first smile I've caught on camera!

Play time!!!

Josiah has discovered toys!
He loves to lay on his play mat and stare at the plastic rings and stuffed animals that hang from the bars- and he likes to look at himself in the crazy mirror. He was content to stay on the mat for over half an hour last night- he was really enjoying himself!
He must have tired himself out from playing so hard, because he subsequently slept for 5 1/2 hours. I actually woke up before he did :) ~ it was a nice night!

A Child of God :)

I had a little fun with Josiah this morning- I really wanted to get some newborn pictures with how his legs still curl up and how his body fits in such a small space still- and there was some BEAUTIFUL light coming into our house that I had to take advantage of!

Josiah celebrated his Baptism yesterday at the Point of Grace- he was perfect for the whole service! I almost lost it up there- it's such a miraculous thing to know that he's a part of God's kingdom! Almost all of our family was able to come, too- so we really filled up the church. It was so awesome to hear everyone singing and how the music could sound in our chapel. Truly a sneak peek into heaven!

Merry Christmas...a day late!

Being a new mommy at Christmastime is not the easiest- I actually kept forgetting it was Christmas- and it's my favorite holiday!
We spent the day at home, and Jon's sister, Sarah, came over with a bunch of hors d'ouvres and we just hung out and ate food and watched Robin Hood, Men in Tights. Good times :)
I also got Josiah dressed up in a baby gap outfit and his retro VANS shoes that we got from our friend, Jesse (who works for VANS out in CA). He was totally stylin'!
Oh, and I also had my first glass of wine since having Josiah- thanks, Sarah!!

Congrats, guys- he's absolutely adorable!!

21 weeks, 1 day

Hello, All!
I just spent a wonderful week with my family out in Michigan and Ohio- I left last Wednesday, and Jonathan flew in on Friday on a friend's plane to a little airport just outside Garden City, MI. We had an awesome dinner at Red Robin (neither of us had ever been to one- since we don't have them here in WI) with Jonnie, Kimmy, and the kids, then drove down to Heather and Richard's place in Ohio that night. We stayed with them until Monday morning, and had an awesome time all around!
These pics are from this afternoon- 21 weeks and 1 day. Baby now measures over 10 inches long and weighs about 3/4 of a pound. He's growing fast!
A lot of people have been asking what we're going to name him, and I don't know that we'll know until his birthday. We have a lot of names that we like, but I can't see us actually settling on one until we see him in person. We'll see- that may change :)
I was supposed to have my ultrasound this morning, but Jonathan had a mandatory work meeting at the same time, so we had to reschedule it for next week. I did, however, have a terrible nightmare that I had to go to it alone, and that they found some major birth defects and was told that the baby wouldn't survive outside of the womb, and that I had to decide what to do, without Jonathan being there! All this news was told to me in front of a panel of Doctors, so I didn't have time to really think about what was going on and absorb what the Dr. was telling me, and all I could do was cry and mourn, knowing my baby wasn't going to survive. How depressing! Needless to say, I was thrilled to know that I was dreaming once I woke up, but it still took me a while to realize that it wasn't real- it was just a dream. It still left a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach. I guess deep down I still am really worried about our baby- even though everything else on the ultrasound last time appeared completely normal and healthy. I guess it will help to have that confirmed when we have the appointment next Monday.
Please Keep us in your prayers- thanks!! :)

15 weeks

So, I'm beginning to feel a little more normal- less time in the bathroom, more time....well, taking pictures and sleeping. I'm still quite tired, but enjoying the fact that I am beginning to show- although not too many people can tell, since I was down to a measly 125 lbs on my 5'8" frame. Well, I can tell, and Jonathan can tell, so we're both getting more and more excited!
I shot a wedding with a good friend, Diana, yesterday- I don't know what I would have done without her! She is amazing at keeping her head, even when it is STORMING out and we're in the DARKEST church in the world. Well, God is awesome, and the storm soon passed, and we were able to get some great shots down by Lake Michigan at the Calatrava.
I took these pictures today (15 weeks), sorry if I look a little out of it- I'm pooped!

keepin' busy!

Hello all!
Things are staying really busy for me- constantly taking new photos, doing weddings, family photos, senior pics, and anything people ask (and pay) for me to do!
I am almost 15 weeks pregnant now, and I should really start putting up pics of me to people can see how I'm changing. It'll get done, sooner or later :)
I've generally been feeling better this week, still nauseous at times- threw up only 2 times so far this week. That's a huge improvement to the constant vomiting I had been experiencing only a couple of weeks ago.
Jonathan has also been keeping very busy with work and trying to keep up with projects around the house (unfortunately I haven't been that big of a help). Our front entryway is looking wonderful- hopefully that project will be completed in the next couple of weeks. We'll see!
Ok, gotta go. thanks for reading!
oh, and the picture is of me 8.5 weeks pregnant taken by Diana Mount on 5.15.08. No belly there!
